26 October - A very good week this week! Rockerfella and Lucie competed in their first ever Elementary at Oldencraig and won! Madison Avenue and Sue went to Blue Barn in a very last minute decision to try and qualify for the Music Freestyle at either Novice or Elementary and came away having accomplished both, with a very high score in the Novice of 72%
We have been fortunate to have a thrilling summer season in 2008. It began not so well with the sad but necessary decision to retire Jenny Gillett’s Starfighter from Advanced competition. He is very happily enjoying his well earned retirement, lightly hacking, and heavily grazing!!
Having begun training Madison Avenue (Herbie) this year, we have been indebted to Carl Hester for his regular help in Gloucestershire. Herbie is a stunning 6yo by Blue Hors Hertug who has already gained approx 70 points, with numerous wins, in only a handful of outings - 74% being his record so far! He has qualified at Novice level for the Winter Regional championships, and is currently learning flying changes.
Lucie Marsh is about to start campaigning Rockerfella (Hogan), her mega talented 6 yo, also by Blue Hors Hertug, at Elementary level - watch this space! We found him for Lucie, and he really does have movement to die for!
Pauline James is thoroughly enjoying her Schwadroneur 5 yo “Marmite”. She trains him herself with our help, and he is proving to be both easy and talented. He will out competing shortly.
Nessie Folwell’s gorgeous 15.2hh PRE stallion “Etico” has been gaining 68 - 70% here at Stilebridge. He is looking for a small talented rider to compete him, possibly a pony club rider?
Many of Sue’s pupils have also been having a good summer. Vicky Thew and Just Samuel competed at the National Championships at medium restricted level, having come 3rd at the Oldencraig regionals. Congratulations to them!
Natalie Brown and Granville won the Medium area festival at Towerlands, and her other ride, Windspiel 219 was well placed at the Medium Regionals at Oldencraig. Congratulations also go to them, and to all other pupils and friends who have qualified, half qualified and are constantly delighting us with texts of wins and high scores!
Good luck for the winter season!!
